Beyond the Sunset
Regrettably, CYPRIEN CEMETERY (a.k.a. the Buras Family Cemetery) is called the
Boothville Cemetery or the Boothville-Venice Cemetery, thereby insinuating
that it is a public cemetery. To my knowledge there is no public
record dating the establishment of this cemetery, but this 'Graveyard' is
mentioned in the Plaquemines Parish courthouse document,
For a Change of Boundary Lines, dated July 27, 1889, that
was signed by Cyprien, Pierre Leon, Pierre Romere, Hubert
(Norbert), Elodie Eloise Buras, and Frank Scarrabin (husband of Elodie).
Therefore, we know that Cyprien Cemetery has existed since 1889 or earlier. |
